It is reported that the functional design of bridge anti-collision has become more and more important with the economic and social development. Last year, both Lianxi Bridge and Modaomen Bridge suffered social and economic losses due to ship collision, which also brought inconvenience to citizens' travel. The Zhuhai Bridge, built in the 1990s, is still the lifeline of transportation between the east and the west, but its anti-collision system has not kept up with the needs of the times. Therefore, this year, the municipal highway and local highway management office will add ship collision prevention facilities to the bridge, including active defense and passive defense. Active anti-collision facilities mainly include radar and other communication and monitoring devices to predict the probability of ship collision in advance and give early warning. The Notice on Marine Environmental Impact Assessment Information of Zhuhai Bridge Anti ship Collision Facilities Construction Project disclosed the details of passive anti ship collision facilities to the public for the first time.


The relevant design scheme adopts the idea of flexible buffer anti-collision. According to the bridge span layout and navigable opening setting of Zhuhai Bridge, anti-collision design is carried out for 5 piers on both sides of the main navigable opening, multiple piers on both sides of the auxiliary navigable opening and approach piers. These include setting composite flexible anti-collision fenders, and arranging large concrete barriers with composite fenders. The large grid consists of five piles with a diameter of 2.2m, forming a "U" shape, and the pile spacing is 6m. The upstream and downstream of some approach piers will also be arranged with arresting cables, which are connected by large and small pontoons. The large and small pontoons are arranged at intervals to form an interception network system to ensure the safety of the bridge. These designs will reduce the ship impact force on the pier, make the pier structure and flexible anti-collision facilities jointly bear the ship impact force, ensure the safety of the bridge structure while protecting the ship to the maximum extent, which is of great significance to maintain social stability and economic development of Zhuhai.
